do I have to to remove the evaporator motor to find out what model number I need for a GE Gss22jf side by side refrigerator? if I do will the refrigerator still work? I need to get one of these on order before the thing stops working completely

Hi Gary,
The model number you provided is incomplete. It suppose to be a four more letters after "F".
Also, pros recommended to replace the main control board to if there is something wrong with the evaporator fan motor.

There are only two places on this refrigerator that the model number appears, on the inside of the door in the refrigerator side and on the rear of the unit, if you have any idea where the full model number is please advise.

Look on top inside the refrigerator.

I looked inside on top, and found nothing. I will have to get the model number of the motor from the motor itself, I believe the evaporator motor is mounted inside the compressor compartment, accessed from the rear of the refrigerator, is this correct? I have the model number for the controller card.

You are mixing the part number and the model number.
The evaporator fan motor is located in the freezer, behind the rear panel.
