Washer won't drain or spin

Washer fills normally and agitates but then does not drain or spin. Bailed out the water from the tub - still would not spin. Tried different settings on the timer (i.e. permanent press/gentle/etc.) - does not pump the water out or spin. I'm guessing not motor related as fill/agitate work. Is this the timer failing? Any insights would be helpful. Thanks. This is my son's washer, a poor college student, so we would like to try to repair ourselves if possible!

Most likely a faulty lid switch. This switch only affects drain/spin cycle. The type of switch on this model is prone to coming apart. They can be glued back together or cinched with a small tie wrap or you can just replace it.

we purchased the lid switch and installed it and the washer is working again.
My son and I appreciate the forum.
