I have an old Sears refrigerator in need of a defrost thermostat(bypassing the thermostat fires up the heating element) The OE thermostat is an L70. made by FSP(?) Do all L70 thermostats have the same heat specs? You carry this thermostat AP3108444 which appears to be the correct shape but does not have color coded wires. The OE has one white, one brown. Does this matter? thanks

Interesting, they do come in all sorts of heat ranges. After my post, I realized that the OE is stamped 10-74 on the back. Those numbers jive with the open/close temp numbers in F with that new L70.

Melt the ice, don't set the fridge on fire, guess it's not rocket science. If the OE opens @74F, the worst that'll happen with a lower temp version is an incomplete defrost.

I had another old Sears fridge in the basement collecting dust and snagged the thermostat. That was before I realized the temp range was right there and so did not even look. It seems to be working OK. 60F seems a good compromise. They're cheap enough. I'll probably pick up a new one even though the "spare" is working.
