The ice maker in our Whirlpool top mounted freezer is no longer producing ice because no water is flowing to the ice maker. This refrigerator has a cold water supply in the refrigerator section and that is working fine -- push the button and water flows.
Is this most likely a water valve/solenoid issue, or a problem with the ice maker itself?
The Ice Maker goes through all the steps of producing ice, by the way (so it is cycling mechanically).

The water valve is the most likely the problem. Make sure the tube that fills the icemaker isn’t stopped up with ice. If this is the case still replace the valve because it caused your problem. Icemaker Repair Guide

I purchased the valve and replace it. Took all of about 15 minutes to pop the old one out (love quick-connect plastic tubing) and put the new one in. It worked like a charm, and my ice maker started filling.
Sadly I guess I had more than one problem because it will not harvest the ice it makes unless I turn it off then back on again using the wire bail.
But that's a problem for another post.
The bottom line is this was spot-on perfect advice. Thanks Applianceman!

The wire bail is apparently not making the internal switch on it's on. I would take the ice maker out and try to adjust the tension on the switch so that end of the bail would make the switch.
