Timer advances for only five to ten minutes. Keeps shutting off and needs to be started over and over again. Stays on longer when it's the first dry of the day.

See if you can immediately restart the dryer after it shuts off. If it will not try to start then I suspect your motor might be overheating and has to cool down and reset before it will start again. Motor could be full of lint and need cleaning.
