I was asked to repair if possible the above model gas dryer with s/n 19536595CN. In checking this web site it appears the timer which I suspect is at faulty, There is no p/n available as a replacement. Can anyone point me in the proper direction for a reliable replacement ?

Hi,

A copy:

Note: Depending on your dryer's model and serial numbers, your wire harness may also need to be replaced at the same time as the timer. Please call us if you have any questions.

In my used parts box I managed to find an older Maytag rotary type timer as shown on Maytag schematic page 3702330-0398. This is a version of a rotary timer that has a bell signal built in as part of the design. The p/n is M460-GB 637 02290. A lot of wiring rework was required to hook it up but the unit now does run the drum properly but so far it does not heat, just blows air. A push to start switch was added to the panel since the original timer used a push to start device inside. This start switch was recovered from another old design dryer. It is p/n 3977456 and works OK. The unit does not shut off at a preset cycle time but if the connections can be revised I may be able to get it to shut off and also to heat . If anyone has some constructive comments. I would like to hear them. For what it is worth The original timers used on this model dryer are a piece of crap!!!

Igniter comes on? Power to the igniter? Coils been tested? Thermostats been tested?

If the weather does not get really hot today I will some further testing to help define the problem . Supposed to be in the mid 90s today here in central Illinois so I may have to wait for a day or so.
