This could be a number of things:

1 - Thermal fuse
2 - Thermostat
3 - Thermister
4 - Control board has shorted and damaged components
5 - Motor over heating and thermal protection switch shutting it off
6 - Motor has bad windings

Grab a multimeter and start trouble shooting.
