Washer went unused for about eight months. I went to use it recently but it will not agitate. It fills up normally, but when it gets to the wash cycle it just makes a noise as if the motor is trying to turn but cannot. I tried turning the agitator by hand but it will not turn. I took off the agitator and give the spingle a gentle tap downwards but it still will not work. Please help. Ser# CM2702445 TYPE 157. Thank you.

Remove the cabinet according to these instructions and check the motor plug and wires.

Post your findings.

Gene thank you for your response. I check the motor connections as you suggest , and all connections were tight. I completely disasembled the washer ( took off water pump, motor and gear case ). I found out that the Motor drive coupling is broken. I tried to turn the shaft that the couplin connects to after I removed the motor but it would only turn about 1/4 of the way around in both directions. I tried to take the gear case apart by taking all the bolts out and prying apart but was not successful. The shalf and gears turned, unlike before where it would not budge. Could the gears be bad or could it be bad breaks? If the gears are bad, how can I remedy this ? Mod. # RAK2751KQO. Thank you in advance.

If the gear case shaft is not turning in both ways - the gear case is bad and not the breaks.

I do not think it is a good idea to rebuild the gear case. There are no repair manuals for such job, hard to find parts and it's not worth money wise.

Replace the gear case and the coupling. Inspect the clutch and replace it too if it looks suspicious.

- The part number for the gear case is AP3096209

- The part number for the motor coupling is AP3961972

- The part number for the clutch is AP3094537

Here are the break down diagrams for the Roper washer Model RAK2751KQ0

Hello Gene ,I received the parts (gear case and coupling ) and have just completed instalation. Machine is working but there is a knocking noise when the machine is in the wash cycle. I cycles fine , but it makes a knocking noise about every half a second when washing. Could it be that that pan type disk that the clip washer sits in needed to be greesed ? Thanks again for your help and I awaits your response.

Take it apart and reassemble to insure proper installation.

If it would not help, then the gears case is defective and has to be exchanged under the part warranty.

Hello Gene, I took the machine apart and assembled it again but I have the same problem. I will have to return the gearcase for another one. Thanks again and I will let you know the outcome.
