I have a Whirlpool Ultimate Care II washer, Model # LSQ8243HQ0. It fills with water, goes through all cycles and ultimately drains....BUT it does not agitate or spin. Clothes are still wet at end of cycle; otherwise I wouldn't have known to check, it sounds as if its functioning the whole time. (my husband insists it is not the lid switch).

Gene,

My whirlpool washer, model GSL9365EQ2, has the same symptoms named earlier in this string with the addition of a clicking noise. The name of the machine is the same as that mentioned earlier.

I had the back panel of the washer off and observed the operation of the electrical motor and the motor coupler. The coupler appears intact on both sides of the interface, although there is a small amount of a dark dust like debris around the coupler, transmission and on the bottom panel. During operation, the coupler spins and does not appear worn or damaged. I cannot view whether the transmission input shaft is rotating. There is no movement, or vibration, from the transmission to the agitator during this operation. Is it possible that the coupling on the transmission shaft is broken and spinning freely? Or is this clicking noise a symptom of a problem within the transmission itself?

Thank you for your expert feedback here and previously on this site.

Just pull the outer panel off, remove pump and motor and check the coupler, probably broken.

I have a similar problem as the above. My machine does agitate, but doesn't spin. You can hear it trying and if you give it a hand start, it will get going and spin. Is this a clutch problem?

Hi whirlpoolblues,

In order to provide the most accurate advise I need the complete model number of the washer.

Post it as a new thread, please.

Gene.

Must be a common thing. My Ultimate Washer LSQ9110LW0 seems to be agitating but only spins sometimes. If I have a heavy (weight wise) load, the spin cycle does not work and the clothes are soak and wet. If I start the entire cycle over with say 1/2 load, the spin seems to work. If I add more clothes for a full (heavy load), the spin will only work some of the time. Any suggestions.

Hi iceman38,

The first thing I would check is the drive block. If there is nothing wrong then the problem is a bad clutch.

You can find the complete instructions in one of previous posts: http://forum.appliancepartspros...ir/373-not-spinning.html

Iceman - My washer had similar symptoms. It would agitate but would not spin. Light loads would spin and heavy loads would not, but got gradually worse until it would not spin light loads. I could occasionally smell a feint burning rubber odor, but my washer is not a belt drive. I checked the coupler and all of the other common problems that people suggested and couldn’t find a solution. It turns out that my motor was dying. A local repair center let me borrow a used motor to test. Problem solved.
