I had a repair guy tell me the control board on my dryer was bad. It's totally dead. Doesn't turn on at all. It's digital face controlled. Anyway, I replaced the computer board, but it's still dead as a doornail. I read about the thermal fuse being the absolute first line of complete shut off, but, I can't get the back off of my dryer to get to it. I took all the screws out only to find that the back doesn't actually come off. It's soldered to the top and sides. Do I have to take the entire drum out? Anyone? Also, if the thermal fuse is bad, does that mean the thermostat is actually bad? Please advise.

If the thermal fuse was bad the dryer would turn on but not heat up. There is another safety in there that is white and should have two wires going to it. Given what you said about the back, you will need to remove the front to get to what you need to see. This will require raising the top and you will probably need a putty knife to do that. Slide it under the gap between the top and front and you should feel a clip. Pull the knife back a little and move it over so u can push in that clip you should do this on the other side as well and you should be able to raise the top up and then pulle the front off. You can most likelu see the safety then. It should be a small white thing with two wires attached to it. Pull a wire off one side and check with ohm meter. If no reading is obtained replace safety.
