My Whirlpool Gold electric range/oven won't turn off. Specifically, the oven won't turn off. Everything else is functional. Is it a bad control board? If so, is this simple to replace.

What happens if you push the "cancel/off" button? Does oven heats up to a set temperature or it heats up "non stop"?

The model number you posted is incomplete.

That's the problem. The "Cancel/Off" button doesn't work. All of the other controls work. I can set the temp. and hit start and it works fine. However, when I'm done, the cancel/off button won't turn the oven off. I have to unplug the whole unit.

Thanks

Most likely the problem is a bad control panel. In order to provide the right part number I need the color of the control panel and last two digits of the model number (after "S").

I have the same exact problem w/the oven cancel/off button not working. The oven will not turn off w/o first hitting the bake/broil button and inputting "000" for the temp. It will then give me an error message and then turn off after I hit start. I have a GE model JKP56 Stainless Steel oven. I hope I don't have to replace the control panel because I saw it was almost $200. OUCH!!!!!!!! The oven is only 5yrs old...it came with the house (new) when we bought it.

Most likely the problem is a bad control panel, but there is a small chance (less than 10%) that the control board is bad too. I would recommend to replace the control panel first.

The model number you posted does not come up. Verify and repost it.

I pulled this GE model # JTP18S0D1SS right off of the oven itself.

I have a KitchenAid electric oven with microwave combo. From time to time the oven will have 2 (related I think) problems. In one case the oven does not shut off and stays heated despite it "accepting" the request to shut off when we hit the Cancel Oven button (and hear an acknowledgement tone). The other problem is that sometimes after using the oven and it shutting off it will heat up on its own. This also occurs at times after we have shut off the circuit and turn it back on the next day (or sometimes days later).

The model number is: KEMS307GWH0
The serial number is: XJ1501022

I am somewhat handy and would prefer to try to fix it myself. No help and no support from KitchenAid. They pretend there is no problem out there despite I see similar complaints out there on the internet.

Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Other info that may be helpful. The oven does respond to the Cancel button being pressed by making a sound. When it turns on by itself it seems to settle in on a temp around 250....it does not heat up to a high temp. I have tried to hit a temp of 000 and start as well as 000 and Cancel as others have suggested. No help. We have to turn it off at the circuit. Also, this is a model that has a convection feature. We notice that it is even more problematic that this thing won't shut off if using Convection (rather than the normal Bake mode).
