I have never been able to find the model number.I bought it about 6 years ago(new) it was mid range price. I had to replace the timer when it was
less than a year old...thats when we found out there was NO model number!

Sounds like a motor or a motor start switch. However, without the Model # it is hard to tell. Maytag sometimes put the ID plate on the upper back, left hand side of the control panel, look there.

If it is a motor is it worth replacing on a machine about 6 yrs old or
is it better to buy a new machine...any thoughts?
