2 year old gas dryer won't stay running If I press the start button it start and stops right away, pulled the back off and pulled the lint screen tube to check for obstructions. If I hold the start button it will run and then gas fires up. I can hear the motor click from start windings to run windings. Drum spins. Seems to work fine as long as I hold the button, as soon as I let off the start button, it stops... Any help out there? White72gs455 attached the following image(s):

Here are your parts Parts for Maytag NGD4600YQ2 / - AppliancePartsPros.comMost likely it is a problem with the centrifugal switch on the motor. It should close and provide an alternate/parallel circuit path to the motor's run winding letting you release the start switch. The switch may have a problem internally as you do hear it actuate. I would still check that this end of the motor is clean as often it is just the centrifugal mechanism in the motor is not working due to lint/dirt. Note that the switch is not available as a separate part so the motor has to be replaced. |
