I self cleaned the oven, after it was done the display went blank and the oven door locked and will not open. What happened and how do I fix the oven?

Hi.

Most likely there is an "open" thermal fuse, located at the back of the range. You will have to slide it out, unplug and possibly disconnect the gas line. Remove the rear cover panel and using the multimeter check the fuse for continuity.

The thermal fuse Part number: 8300802
Part number: 8300802

If the fuse is OK, you should check the hi-limit thermostat

Part number: 9757807
Part number: 9757807

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Oven parts for Whirlpool GW395LEPS00 - AppliancePartsPros.com

Please, post the results.

Simon,
The thermal fuse and the thermostat (975994) are bad. I am ordering the parts tonight. Hopefully this will fix it. Thank you and I will let you know how I make out.

What the 975994 is? You are missing one digit.

Hi.

This 9759944 thermostat is normally open and close on the temperature rise to turn on the cooling fan. If the cooling fan is turning on without any problem, then this thermostat is good.
