We have a used dishwasher, and it has started doing this: when the arm spins around, it rakes across the heating element, & makes a knocking sound, is there a way I can fix it or will I have to buy another spray arm? and how do I attach it to it's base?

Hello, Make sure the lower spray arm support (#62 at the diagram) and the spray arm installed properly. Check both, the spray arm and the support. - The lower spray arm Part number: 154568001

I removed the spray arm & examined it & couldn't see anything wrong with it, so I put it back on & ran a empty cycle & the tip ends would tap against the heating element...have you ever heard of this happening before? If there is something I can adjust, I can probably fix it myself....please give me your opinion. Thanks for the feedback.

There are no any adjustments. Try to replace the spray arm.
Gene.
