Thats what it says in the tech sheets: "Rotate screw-end of protector upward to remove part and expose chopper assembly". Gene.

Gene Thanks that worked. The check valve (#5 on the diagram) was missing the round part. I guess you find my problem. Do I order the part on line of would Sears have this in stock? Should I replace anything else? I did remove the dishwasher and it's sitting in my garage Thanks again - U da man

You are welcome. The part number for the check valve is AP3152971and it is good in stock. You probably should have it Tuesday. I do not know where do you live and how far is a local Sears store from you. I can not tell you if anything else has to be replaced. Probably not. Keep us posted. Gene.

Check the drain pump. Remove the drain hose and make sure it's clean. Do not blow air through this hose into the dishwasher.
Gene. P.S. Have you replaced the garbage disposal recently?

Check if you removed the plug in the garbage disposal for the dishwasher drain connection.
Gene.

I had the garbage disposal replaced and now my dishwasher doesn't drain. I called the installer but he said they were unrelated. It seems too conincidental for that to be the case. Is there something I can check/do?

There is a plug for the dishwasher drain line in the garbage disposal which must be removed during the installation. Disconnect the dishwasher drain hose from the garbage disposal and check if it was removed. Gene.
