My Amana Side-by-side is not making ice.
I replaced the ice maker as I have done before, still no ice.
The problem is that the ice maker is not filling with water.
If I manually pour water in the ice maker, it will freeze and dispense; therefore, the new ice maker is cycling.
I removed the bottom back cover and swapped the input electric connectors so that the water dispenser in the door would activate the ice maker fill solenoid. This worked and water came into the ice maker.
It seems to me that the solenoid that activates the fill valve for making ice is o.k. but is not being sent an electrical signal. I'm assuming that the electrical signal should be coming from the ice maker.
Any ideas on what to check next?
Is there a way to test the ice maker while it is out of the refrigerator?
The wiring diagram on the back of the unit indicates a fuse in the ice maker circuitry. Could that be a problem? If so, where is it to be found?
I'm mechanically oriented and would love to fix this my self if possible.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,:)
