Recently replaced with belt bought thru Sears, lasted about 2 weeks. Fluke, or symptom of other problem?

How easily does it turn by hand, without the belt?

It seems to turn easily enough, a little awkward manipulating it from the bottom, but easy to turn tub. The belt looked burned.

In lower position it seems to freewheel, in upper it starts a tad stiff then turns. I hope it's not a 242dollar transmission,"gulp". The small pulley below the motor turns easily.

Those are the only items that the belt drives. If you were able to freely spin them in both directions, it's possible you just got the wrong belt.
