This may sound dumb or you may have already done it but did you try moving the timer dial to another position and see if the heat comes on. If it does you probably have a timer problem. Also if i is indeed a timer problem in that the dial does not move chances are it is a timer motor. The timer motors on the older dryers have small plastic gears inside that eventually wear out. Hope this helps. Timers can be replaced and some can be repaired . I have repaired a few and replaced timer motors on some also. Good luck

I will get back to you if I come up another good suggestion. The gas valve itself may be the problem in that the solenoid coils are activating but the solenoid plungers are not opening the valve to let gas flow.

It's getting gas because I could smell it when I turned dryer on. Going to check igniter to see if that's bad

If you smell gas when you push the start button something is wrong. Dont do anything foolish as you should not smell unburned gas at all if the igniter is working. Turn the gas off at the supply valve to check the igniter. If it is working it will glow red hot and then turn off and as it does you will hear the solenoids click to open the valve and allow gas to flow .

Best to wait for a repairman to diagnose the problem . Sounds like you have already checked all the basics. I think you mentioned this in an earlier post but does the drum turn OK when the start button is pushed ? It still sounds to me like the burner is not allowing gas to flow thru.
