I accidentally posted the following on the washer page last April:

Bought a Whirlpool fridge (gold series) about 13 months ago and it has been great; however the past couple of days things have been a little warm. The temp for the fridge is set at 37 degrees and the freezer is set at 0 degrees.
I checked and the inside temp is reading 50 degrees on the top shelf next to the vent and throughout & 38 degrees in the meat drawer. The freezer is reading 5 degrees. There's no blockage of the vents.
What could be causing this?

I got a reply:
(If you want to start troubleshooting check the fan and the components that control it. Your refrigeration is fine, the cold air is just not getting into the refrigerator part.) but was not aware of it.

That problem has been solved:
In the end I called Whirlpool (being that the warranty had just expired a month before), and they said that they would be willing to pay for parts but I had to pay the labor costs. As it turns out the upper cold air circulating fan, located in the upper compartment behind the shelves, had gone bad. After installation and defrost in the fridge, I got my fridge back.
After a couple of months I started to get a noise down in the freezer department. As it turns out it was a continuation of the previous problem... the coil in the freezer had built up frost to the point that the fan was hitting it. Defrosted it as well.
Now:
the fridge is a little noisier than in the beginning;
The freezer is set @ 0 degrees and reads 9-11 degrees, but has a hard time keeping anything frozen (i.e. super soft ice cream, frozen juice thawed, ect.)
AND the ice maker quit working. :eek:
What gives???

Is the condensing fan in the back working. If so, remove the back freezer panel and describe the frost pattern.

You have a refrigerant leak, probably the evaporator seal. If it all leaks out the compressor will get internal damage. Still, It would be about a $400 repair.
