This fixed the problem!!! The only snag I had was feeding the tubes through the opening near the filter head. It took me a while to realize that there is a little piece of styrofoam insualtion where the tubes feed through into the back of the fridge that pops out, and once I realized that, it took me less than 15 min to change it out. Only had to remove food from the top shelf, disconnect the power, turn off the water on the wall. Then remove the water filter, take off the filter cover by pulling it off starting from the left back of the cover where it mounts onto a peg that sticks out from the filter head. Slide the other side of the cover off, then take the filter head off from the mounting bracket by one tab on the left side (same peg that the cover mounts on) and slide it out of the hole on the right. Pull the lines through after disconnecting them from the water valve and install the new filter head in reverse order.

Gene. Well, after about a month water flow went back to a trickle. Read some other posts with similar problems and investigated about the design of the newer water filter (Whirlpool replacement to the UKF8001AXX) as compared to the bypass adapter. Found there is a difference in the size of the ridges that press against the filter head that affect the flow from the dispenser, so took a chance on an Aquafresh replacement filter. Ridges on the Aquafresh filter are the same size as the bypass adapter and water flow is back to normal. Hope it stays this way, if so the Aquafresh filters (or similarly designed filters) are the answer.
