My compressor (2006 Bryant) outside will not come when I set the thermostat lower then the room temperature.

I replace the contact switch as a guess but still doesn't work.

I can manually start the compressor (will cool the house) by pushing in the contact switch but once I let go the switch comes back out.

Question is: why is the contact switch no being tripped? Is it the capacitor or the circuit board?

Thanks

The low voltage circuit energizes(closes) the contactor.
This is done when the thermostat calls for cooling the coil of the contactor is what causes it to close.
Possibleities are bad thermostat or bad step-down transformer.(220v-24v)

you must not be getting 24 volts from your thermostat to contactor

I think it's better to get a professional opinion.. most of the AC companies have free consultation... just call them and ask for a free quote or something... I usually call Reliant Air Conditioning... they're pretty good..
