My whirlpool is intermittently cooling. When it works, it works fine. But after a day or so everything will melted. I replaced the thermostat and it does the same thing. Water is dripping from the top of the refridgerator and is filling up the bottom until it leaks out. A few times I was able to turn the thermostat to off, wiat a few seconds and turn it back on. It would work fine after that - but that doesn't always work. When it does't work, I do see the lights inside go a little dim as if something kicks in. From the formums I'm thinking this has something to do with the defrost cycle. Does that sound correct?

You might have a compressor going sour. Next time it fails, remove the back panel and see if the compressor is trying to start. If so, you just might have a bad compressor. If the compressor is running, the small diameter tubing from it will be hot and the compressor will be humming/vibrating.
