I have a side by side whirlpool. The door water works, but the ice maker does not. I believe that it stopped working either when the city cut off our water for a while and it did not have water or when the filter started leaking due to it needing to be replaced. It has been about 6 months and I've about had it. I am not very saavy with repair stuff, so, I need some help. There seems to be water in the tube on the backside of the refridgerator, but the top of the water is about 4 inches from where it enters the fridge.

Hi, For starters, I would check the water valve is to locate the vwater valve on the back of the machine-remove the leads and switch the location- then push the water dispenser button (as if getting a glass of water) and see if you are getting water in the icemaker. If not then replace the wires in their original places and remove the plastic cover on the front of the icemaker and look in the center of the gear and look for three prongs in the center, if there are only two then that's probably your problem. Hope that helps Nat

I switched the leads and when you press down the water dispenser lever, water goes to the ice machine - so it looks like the water valve is working.
So, could it be the ice maker timer or entire unit?
Thanks for your help Nat.

The ice maker in my Kitchen Aid KSRP25FNBL00 is not working. I have close the side door and the red LED is lit. There is ice in the tray but it will not dump. Any advise?

If you get water in the icemaker after switching the leads then it's either the thermostat inside the icemaker itself is stuck open or the module on the front of the icemaker isn't working. The easiest thing to do is probably replace the icemaker. Hope that helps Nat
