Left front ring stays maximum heat when truned on. Cannot adjust to a lower setting. This element has a simmer button which will cool the ring off. Is this a bad control knob?

Most likely the problem is a bad infinite switch for this burner. - The part number for the infinite switch is AP2124692 Good luck. Gene.
