Our whirlpool refrigerator and freezer is not cooling..the evaporator motor and fan are running. Could it be the start relay for compressor? the refrigerator runs and all lights work. We had a power surge recently"

Here are your parts Parts for Whirlpool ED25LFXGN00 Refrigerator - AppliancePartsPros.comSee the attachment for the tech sheet. the evaporator motor and fan are running. I am assuming you mean the evaporator/freezer fan and the condenser/compressor fan are both on. Could it be the start relay for compressor? the refrigerator runs Check if the compressor is on. It should be on whenever the fans are on (they are wired in parallel). You can usually hear it but also should be able to feel it vibrating. If it is on and you get no or little cooling then it is a sealed system problem. This will be an expensive repair. If it is not on then check the compressor windings, see the below link. Also see the info on the start device. How To Fix a Refrigerator - Appliance Repair Guide - ACME HOW TO.comIf the windings are good then it is worth while trying a new start device which is often the only reliable way to tell if it is the culprit. Note that the compressor winding test can tell you if a compressor is bad but does not tell you that it is good as it may have other internal problems. |
