When my refrig. comes off defrost it makes a clicking noise
at least 3-4 times before the compreesor starts.
Does not do this on normal starts.
I put a watt meter on it and when it clicks and does not pull
hardly any more watts. like it wound if the compressor was trying to start.
I changed out the defrost unit ,no help.
What's next the overload relay ?
Thank's Wayne

Hi Wayne, it's not watts you want to check but amps. It sounds like the relay/overload/start device may be faulty. I can't get anything to come up with that number. Read it off the tag in the fresh food section and not off any stickers on the door.

Here is the model from the label in side the box.
Model BC20JL Amana
Mgf # P7680812WL
sn. # 8701025320
I looked at watts and anps, didn't pull much trying to start
not as much as running normal, which is about 8/9 amps
Thank's Wayne

8 or 9 amps running? That's way too much. I don't know why I can't get anything to come up with that number. Are you in the USA? Try replacing the start device. It's either that or the compressor.

I told you wrong on the amp draw while running is 3 amps
defrost amps is 4
When it tries to start after defrost mode it jumps to 20 amps
and kicks out, does this serveral times before the compressor
starts. I haven't recorded amps on normal start.
Thanks, Wayne
I have since recorded start amps it's 3 amps.
