I replaced the fixed thermostate, it was corroded and the lead broke off when I touched it. The dryer still won't heat. Is the next logical part replacement the thermal fuse? I do not have a analog/digital continuity tester at this time. Should I purchase one?

Yes, order an amprobe digital test meter on this site, or pick it up at Lowes.
