Trying to figure out if I need a door switch or speed control board based on what I've read on the forum. Any assistance is appreciated! Washer will drain, so I have not checked for clogs - it WILL NOT spin at all. I removed the belt and checked the motor - motor does not spin with or w/out belt. Thanks for the help. Model # 41739012891 Frigidaire Gallery Front Load Washer.

David,

Does it wash?

Does the door lock when it comes to spin?

Gene.

P.S. It's better to open your own new thread.

Gene, thanks for your reply. I thought last night that I should have posted a new thread vs a reply.

It does NOT wash or spin. It does drain fine.

The door lock seems to be okay. It locks, and remains locked for 10-15 seconds before I am able to open the door while it is in the spin or wash mode. I also tried pushing/pulling on the door near the latch while in wash/spin mode to see if it would spin.

Lastly, I tried removing the belt, and turning the machine on in the wash/spin mode to see if the motor would spin without the belt on and the motor did not spin.

Let me know if you have further questions, or would like me to try further tests. I do not however have any meters, or tools to check signals, etc. and since my machine is 11 years old it does not have any digital/self test modes that I know of.

Thanks again in advance.

David,

In order to avoid unnecessary spendings you have to have an ohmmeter to check the door latch even this is the first possible culprit.

- The door latch assembly Part number: AP2578357
Part number: AP2578357

- The speed control board Part number: AP2107536
Part number: AP2107536

OK - let me check with my neighbors and track down down an ohmmeter. Then do I (try) follow the diagnstics on the tech sheets housed in the washer? Such as this: http://www.applianceaid.com/pic...l_washer_motor_tests.jpg

Thanks,

David

This instructions are for the motor test. What about such instructions for the door lock? You have to test both of them.

OK sorry about that. I believe there are instructions that were in the machine that will walk down each step from the start. I will focus on the door switch/latch. Do you have a link to the test, or readings that I should verify once I track down the meter? Thanks Gene!

I found some instructions but I'm not sure if they are good for your model. Remove the front service panel (toe panel) and look for an envelope with the tech sheet.

Gene I have the tech sheet and will follow each step and let you know what I come up with. Just to let you know my skill level and familiarity with testing using an ohmmeter - do I use the meter tips on the plug itself, or where the plug plugs into? - Sorry.
