I have an F7 error on the control panel. I already read the tech guide and realize that this is either the control panel or the control module to which it is attached. Both parts are pricey, so I am trying to determine which of the two is bad.
I have tried to unplug the ribbon cable from the control panel to the control module, but then I get an F0 error.
Symptoms: Weird--one day the oven just started beeping when not having been used in weeks. I removed power to the oven (via breaker) and when I restored power the problem did not recur for several hours. Now I have to keep power to the oven off or it ill inevitably beep.
Oddly, I can add power and use the oven for an hour or so before the F7 reappears.
In an effort to try to "unstick" one of the buttons, I pressed each one many times. This did not prevent the F7 from coming back, so I suspect the problem is in the control module and not the panel.
Does anyone here have any ideas for me to avoid having to order both parts?
Thanks, Jim

Hi Jim, Based on my experience (I had serviced about 200 GE ovens with the claim like yours) the chance for the control panel to be a culprit is more than 90% because of damaged ribbon. Couple times I had to replace both the control panel and the control board to solve the problem. - The part number for the control panel is AP2029572Here are the break down diagrams and the parts list for the GE oven Model JT950SA2SSGene.

Hi Gene,
Thank you so much for your reply.
Not that this is your problem, but I am very disappointed with GE quality. These types of buttons are a very bad idea, I think, especially since they seem to have a very short life span. I would prefer buttons that work by the touch rather than pressure. I have hardly used this oven!
I will do as you say (unless someone else chimes in and says otherwise) and order the control panel. First, however, I will remove the existing panel and see if I can somehow clean or service it, since that is what I do (I'm a tinkerer and I believe most things can be fixed versus replaced).
Thank you very much for your thoughts.
