Have a Kenmore washer that will not fill with hot water. THis model has the solenoid with the temperature sensor built in. I replaced the solenoid but all the machine will do is start to fill with cold water for about five seconds and then shuts itself off. Cold water setting works fine. Any help would be appreciated.

I assume you mean that you replaced the entire water valve assembly, in which case the water temp selection switch is your next place to look for the problem.

Yes, replaced entire water valve....didn't know you could replace a partial valve :>) Someone has told me that the water level control also plays a part in whether the machine gets hot water. This makes no sense to me as this particular model has a seperate water level control and seprate water temperature control. IS this true? DOn't really want to replace another part without knowing.

No the water level switch has no role in the temp selection. And no you normally cannot replace part of the assembly, just wanted to make certain you had not tried to do so.
I would replace the temp selection switch, if you buy from this site and the part does not fix the problem you can return it, see the returns policy for details and conditions (which aren't many).
