Our dryer is overheating, and the timer is not functioning on some settings. Is this a problem with the heating element, thermostat, timer, etc?

Make sure the vent is clear to the out side, and the vent housing attached to the front of the dryer is clear too. If so, then replace the operating thermostat. The part # is 31001192 Tom Appliance Educator, Appliance Parts, Washer and Dryer Parts, Refridgerator and Freezer Parts, Stove and Oven Parts
