problem with washer. motor spins, but tub does not spin. replaced belt...same thing. rotated drum by hand and heard a creak and tic. noticed there was a seal or bearing all busted up so i removed all the small pcs. can't seem to figure out what it originally looked like. this seal (or what ever it was) is located on the transmission between the lower gear housing and above the lower bearing housing. it's plastic with steel rounded discs. it is located what seemed to be above the retaining ring that holds the bearing in lower bearing housing. after i removed the fragments, for the hell of it, i started it and it spins just fine now. all setting work fine. no noises or vibrations what so ever. anyone know anything about these transmissions and what the heck was this part that fell apart and prevented the drum from spinning? i have never seen a seal that looks like this with metal rounded plates. these plates are only .25" square and about an 1/8 thick. i think i removed a total of five of these plates. see image attached that shows whrere this seal came out of. located in the steel housing left of the letter "A" in Appliance. if this is just a seal, how critical is it that it needs to be replaced? if anyone needs to see pictures of the parts i removed, please let me know. (sorry for the long post)
