My girlfriend has a compact Kenmore dryer (the model # escapes me right now) that will tumble fine but will not heat up. I took it apart and replaced the thermal fuse and the dryer would heat up for about a day but now will not heat again.

Is something faulty causing the thermal fuse to continue to blow or might my heating element be bad? I took off the heating element and it looks fine (no breaks in the wiring/coils) but I'm not sure if you can tell from looking at an element whether it's bad or not.

Help please, as my girlfriend thinks I'm Bob Vila and needs to get this dryer fixed. We hate to keep ordering parts and waiting for a week to get them just to install them and hope that they work. I would like to know what is causing the problem so we can look there and get this thing fixed.

Without a volt/ohm meter you will never be bob villa. You need to check power where the dryer cord goes into the dryer, and you need to ohm out the element. When you ohm out the element the dryer needs to be unplugged. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
