washer sounds like something metal outside of tub when spinning by hand. Very noisy during spin cycle.

How old is your washer exactly? If it is over 3 or 4 years old and you use it almost every day it could be a broken spider arm.

Is it violently jumping when it spins?

Possibly only 1 of the 3 arms is broken. Ours seemed a little hard to balance for quite some time but useable. When the second of three arms broke it was not useable. Do some research, this is a hated flaw in these machines that the manufacturers deny and blame on bad water and improper soap useage.

The spider arm is made from an aluminum iron blend and is not coated with anything to protect it. As well, the casting quality is very poor and nooks allow moisture to work on vulnerable cracks. I fixed mine but it was expensive and a lot of work. Other that that you may want to give up and go back to a top load unless they started making them 5 year machines as well.

good luck..but i hope that is not your problem.

We do our best to buy an more expensive enviromentally friendly machine that is just a cash cow for the manufactuers....enough for now..I am getting angry. (smile).

I see a class action suit in the air for this one.

..added, I guess it could be a bearing issue also. It is still quite a bit or work to change them out. I replaced mine when changing the spider arm assemlby.

FYI, if you do have to replace the spider arm, you will find that you have to buy the stainless steel drum also as they claim it must be balanced. I don't see the logic as we load it up with an unstable load of clothes to start. I guess there must be people out there who love to run it empty. grrrrr.
