My ice maker stopped making ice several months ago. I thought it had to do with the R.O. system it was hooked up to, not enough pressure in the tank to fill the ice maker. I have since gotten a new R.O. system and it still wasn't making ice. Now I have it hooked directly to the water source and it is still not working. I was going to switch the ice maker line with the water dispenser line to see if it was getting water but they are different tubing sizes and it wouldn't work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have read many threads on the forum that have the same type of problem with an ice maker not working but I'm not sure where to start troubleshooting. Can anyone help me out? I can't check the water inlet because the tubinh is two different sizes. Any other suggestions? Thanks,

ice maker line is 1/4" and the water line to the dispenser is 5/16" ... if you know how to cycle the icemaker you can remove the water line in the back of the refrige to the icemaker ... as the icemaker cycles it will close a contact to send 110vac to one of the solenoids of the water valve ( the one w/ the 1/4' plastic tube. ) you can test for 110vac at the two leads of the water valve for the icemaker .. you can also listen to see if the solenoid ( magnetic coil ) humms or not ... ( btw : you can also reverse the wires for the dispenser coil and the icemaker coil.. after reversing the wires, depress the water dispenser and see if you get water into the icemaker .. if you do the watervalve is good and the icemaker is definitely BAD.. ( also.. remember the icemaker will not cycle unless the temp in the freezer is < 8 degrees F ) ..... without enough cold, the icemaker will not cycle, even though water freezes at 32 deg F, icemaker needs to be colder .. hope this helps..
