We have a Frigidaire (front load) washer from Nov.2006. The washer will move back and forth during the wash cycle, and it seems to drain, but when it goes to spin - nothing.
So we call out an appliance repair service and they quote us a repair cost of nearly what a new one will cost. (We say no thanks and pay the $65 call fee.)
The quote says that the main controller is bad (part number 134743500). Does this sound right? It looks like I can buy it for less than $150. Is it something that I can replace myself?
Or is something else possible wrong and this guy's quote is possibly inaccurate?
Thanks for any help!

It is possible the control is the problem, but I would do some more investigating before I jumped and made that purchase. There is a possibility that it may your door switch which I wrote about in a post Frigidaire Washer Won't Spin on my blog. Give it a read and see if that may be what your washer is doing. The tech sheet is in an envelope behind the access panel so you can do some of your own tests to help narrow down the problem.

I will look into it more, but I read through your blog and the first thing I noticed different was that ours does not move during the spin cycle at all (that one said it tumbled).
Thanks

When it is time for the spin cycle, if your washer drains and just sits there, then the lock is not the problem, but then we are looking more at the control board. The tech sheet contains a set of tests that you can do to verify if it is the control or the motor controller that is causing the problem. Let us know if you need help with the tests.

Where would one find the tech sheets?

The tech sheets are generally behind the lower access panel on Frigidaire's.

Thank you so much. Now I have to figure out how it comes off. The one on the dryer just pops off. I am sure I cannot be as lucky...grin
