oven will not light most ofthe time. some times if you slam the broiler door it will light. The ignitor is glowing red but the gas is not coming on. I tried to replace the clock/timer, this did not correct the problem. Is the safety valve bad, or is it possible that the ignitor resistance is not correct for the valve to open?

Hi.

To determine if the ignitor is bad you need a clamp on amp-meter.Put the clamp around one ignitor's wire and turn the oven on.
If it reed less than 3.2 amp - replace the ignitor.
