The water dispenser is working fine no problem. This freezer has never made ice, any suggestions? I never really cared much about it until now....ice would be nice..I am tired of filling trays. Thanks

Have you tried putting about half a cup of water into the tray to get the cycle to restart?

I noticed a blinking red light to the right of the on/off swith for "ice maker control." I dumped a 1/2 cup of water in the tray, about 20 mins later I had cubes. No new ice has been made since then.

Again I am not a pro, just an appliance owner. If it makes and disperses ice when you put in a little water, it sounds like the dual water valve to me. I had this exact problem and replaced the dual water valve a few days ago (see post called something like Kitchenaid Superba icemaker no water) and it is working again. I left instructions for the repair as it applies to my Kitchenaid refrigerator.
Good luck.

I read your post, sounds like there is hope. Any chance you still have the part #? Is there any way for me to test or be sure this is what I need to do before I order the part? Is this something I can buy from a home improvement store? Thanks!

The part number will vary by model. Click on "Find Parts" above and it will take you to a page which asks for information like maker and model number. Once you find the exact model there will be schematics by section like icemaker, door, etc. You then get a split screen with the blow-up drawing at the top with each item numbered. At the bottom of the screen the parts correspond to these numbers. Many of the parts are pictured so you can find the old one when you open up the refrigerator.
When I received the dual water valve, it came with pretty good instructions about how to swap it out.
Good luck. My question would be why you never had ice if you purchased it new? Unlikely that the water valve was defective from the factory.
