This is a side by side refrigerator. Lately, the fresh-food side has been running around 31 degrees on the bottom and 35 degrees on top. I never had to adjust the digital temperature control before. I did set the temp control to a warmer setting but this did not make a difference. I believe the fresh-food side may have a bad thermistor/s or a stuck open damper door. If it is a thermistor, does this model have two in the fresh-food side. How do I replace these? Just cut the wire and splice? Do you think it is a damper door/s instead? Where are they? I would appreciate any advice as I would like to order the correct parts and do the job. FYI, I know HVAC but have never worked on a residential refrigerator. Thank you very much.

If the fridg is running often ,measure the freezer temperature and post. Also, remove the freezer back panel and tell us if the coils are fully frosted with a light frost.

Thanks for the response. The refrigerator does seem to be running longer than usual. The freezer temp gets down to -10 degrees. The fresh-food side freezes the veggies in the bottom bin and the upper part of the fresh-food side is about 34 degrees. I did not check the evap coil in the freezer yet. Do you think a bad thermistor is causing the compressor to stay on longer than needed? Could I take an ohm reading of each thermistor at the board? What should they read? Do you think it may be something else? Do you need more information from me? Thank you Lee

You can check the thermistors at the motherboard, but a more accurate fix would involve removing the fresh food thermistor behind the damper door, immersing it in ice water, and measuring the resistance after 5 minutes, should be around 16.6 kohm, or just replace it.

I just ordered two thermistors, they seem to be the same one(same part number). I see two thermistor looking things on the left wall of the fresh-food side. Is there another one by a damper door hidden? The exploded diagram showed only two thermistors for the fresh-food side. Does that sound correct for my model? When I replace the thermistors do i just cut the old one out and splice together the new one? Or do they unclip? Or run entire new wire back to the mother board? Thank you, Lee

You just splice the new ones in with inline splices available at Wall Mart.
