My frige/freezer quit cooling so I took off the back panel in freezer and noticed ice build up on coils but evap motor fan is not running. I unplugged the unit and cleaned off all the dust around condesor and all under back of fridge. I also replaced the evap fan motor but to no avail. Any tips on what to check now? Fan in back of fridge is running and compressor is warm. Thanks in advance

It sounds like a defrost problem. If you have an ohm meter check the defrost thermostat for continuity, it's located in the rear of the freezer near the evporator coils. In the back near the compressor the defrost timer is located there, try to manually advance the timer to kick te unit into defrost (try that first) Here's your breakdown Model SCD22TBWNat

I don't have an ohm meter. I can't seem to locate where the defrost timer is. Is it mounted onto the compressor because that is the only thing I see back there other than the icemake water hookup and the fan and the compressor. Thanks for the response. I'll keep trying to find it.

Ok, found defrost timer under front of refrigerator. Advanced until it clicked and the fan in back went off. Now what would be the next step? Do I have to wait awhile before doing anything else? Thanks in advance.

Problem solved. It was the defrost thermostat as it was expanded/exploded. Replaced and everything is working just fine thus far. Thank you for your response and the info liberty.
