I'm about to order a agitator kit and a motor coupling as these are broken. When I try to spin the tub by hand there is a decent amount of drag encountered. It takes some effort to spin it. Is this normal? I am concerened that I may have an additional problem. These parts are inexpensive but it's the unknown that I'm worried about. Thanks for any help on this..

Wayne,

Based on your post, at this present time,

I presume, the upper "auger" part of the agitator can be moved in both directions,(it should only move counterclockwise) but the bottom is stationary(damaged agitator dogs).

To manually turn the spin basket, Yes, there is some resistance and does take some effort to turn, sounds normal.

The motor coupler assembly, drives the gearcase and clutch, to make the washer agitate and spin, if it is damaged , weak, or broken, there is no mechanical operation in the gearcase, and nothing moves.

I think you've got everything coverred, with the parts you've orderred.

(when you replace the new motor coupler, you'll most likely need a deep set socket and small hammer to tap it onto the motor and gearcase shafts, it's been redesigned and is a very tight fit, even after you clean off the shafts.

Good Luck,

Let us know how things go, we'd appreciate it.

Thanks,

:) :) :)
