HI.

Using the putty knife release two clips at the top and remove the front panel.
Observe the indicator light on the motor control. Count the flashes. A lot of times it's the bad motor

Hi.

Unplug the washer and check resistance of the mode shifter at room temp. 98 ohm. If the shifter coil is open - replace it and the belt.

The sifter Part number: WH38X10017
Part number: WH38X10017

The belt WH01X10302

What do you mean by spindle attached to the motor (the motor shaft?)

The motor part that the belt attaches to spins freely and the the big wheel the belt attaches to also spins freely but when i turn the mode dial to the spin position the motor doesnt seem to activate. Is that because the belt is off? Also what does the 4 x flashing light mean?

Hi.

4 blinks means mode shifter problem.Check the resistance at the plug C7 (red/yellow).

Was thanked: 4 time(s) in 4 post(s)
Just to add my 2 cents...

Sometime in such situation the motor has to be replaced too. In order to determine if the motor in your washer has to be replaced we need the 12 characters (starting with 175) part number from the motor label. Also check the label on the top cover of the motor. If the part number on this label is different, post it too.

The replacement instructions are attached.
