Hi,
We have an old Magic Chef oven in our RV. It is at least 25 years old, but still in very good condition. The top burners light just fine as does the Oven Pilot light. However, the oven burner would not light. I assumed the oven burner valve was bad as it never seemed to open and allow gas to the burner even after the pilot had been on for a long time, so I replaced the oven burner valve. It still does not work. I did notice that when I put the Oven Thermostat dial in the Pilot postition, there is some gas going to the main burner side as well. It does not get to the burner because the burner valve will still not open. I opened the thermostat control valve, and it seems okay inside. No leaks after I put it together again. I cannot figure out if I got a bad part in the new oven burner valve, or if somehow the thermostat and it are connected and I don't know about it.
