The gas oven / broiler won't light on my Amana. If I hit the gas valve they will lite. I understand that the broiler and the oven burners each have their own bi metal valves within the gas valve, what I don't understand is how both would be bad. I have checked the conections.
Thanks for any help

Hi.

You will need the amp meter to check the current draw of the each ignitor. The 3.2Amp is minimum for normal work. If it's less - replace the ignitors.

The bake ignitor Part number: 31940001
Part number: 31940001

The broil ignitor Part number: 786324
Part number: 786324

You will have to reuse the old brackets, so be very careful not to brake the grey portion of the ignitors - very fragile.

Good luck and post the results.

Simon.

Simon,

Thanks for the advice, would both go at the same time? they both glow bright red, and why would they light the burner when I hit the Gas Valve?

Hi Rick,
Hoping the site emails you when someone posts a reply.
Can you tell me what fixed the issue with your Amana bake and broil functions not working back in 2012? I have the same situation and I see Simon never replied as to why both igniters would fail at the same time. I was suspecting the $1xx valve vs the $2xx control board.
Thanks much.

Terrabill,

To be honest I haven't repaired it yet, it's at a vacation home and I have been just tapping on the gas valve to light the oven. I'm going to by an igniter for the bake and try it when I get back in the spring.
Good luck and if you find out anything please let me know
