Having a problem with my range. I set the oven to bake and the ignitor comes on but the burner won't light. The broiler works fine, the cooktop burners are fine. I checked all the connections on the ignitor and gas valve but no luck. Any help and info would be appreciated.

Hi.

In order to open the gas the ignitor has to pull 3.25amp. If it's less than 3.2amp the gas valve won't open.

The bake ignitor Part number: WB13K21
Part number: WB13K21

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for General Electric JGB905SEF2SS Gas range | AppliancePartsPros.com

Thank you. Post the results.

I'm wondering if I have the same problem or not? I've got a GE Profile range as well. Mine also says that it is a Spectra XL44 if that makes it any different I'm not sure. Anyway.. Mine works fine with the stove top burners (I'm not sure about the broiler since I hardly use it), but when I try and bake something I set the temp and so forth, but it doesn't do anything. No noises or sounds of any sort. It worked fine one day and a day or two later it wouldn't work at all. Am I having the same problem and would this fix take care of my problem too? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. I really appreciate it.

Hi.

If the bake ignitor glows - replace it.
If not - check the continuity of the ignitor using the multimeter.
No continuity - replace the ignitor.

Please provide the model number for the parts breakdown.

Thank you.

Simon.

Thanks for your help. I'll look into these items. I do have a few questions still.

Where do I look to see if the bake ignitor is glowing? Do I need to disassemble some of the range to see this. I tried to start it and look through the vents in the bottom of the range but don't see anything as far as light or hear nothing.

I've got to barrow a friends multimeter, but can check that too. I just thought that I'd ask a few questions before taking it apart.

I was also going to ask where to look for the model number. I looked all over it and don't see a tag anywhere. There is nothing on the back or in the opening of the range. I'm just curious if you can tell me where to look and I will post those numbers.

Thanks again for all the help. It is greatly appreciated.

Hi.

Open the drawer door at the bottom and look on the left or right sides for the model number tag.
Also you should be able to see the glow from the ignitor if it's coming on.

Thank you.

Simon.

Hi, I've got a GE Profile model JGB905WEF2WW serial HG220634P with a similar problem. When I go to set the oven (bake) the igniter glows brightly but the oven won't start. The night before this happened the stove lit but would not get up to an operating temp (it only heated to 186 degrees) of 400 degrees as it was set to. I shut it off and restarted it a couple times but it never got any hotter.

Everything else works fine. Does this seem to indicate a defective igniter?

Thansk for the assistance.
