I'd figure I would try again to see if anyone else would have any suggestions to this problem. I have been using this washing maching for almost 3 years like this (not really bitching) because my laundry room is close and I live alone. I also leave the lid open with a screwdriver in the lid switch so I can see if the washer is spinning. If I see it draining and not spinning, I lift the screwdriver and put it back in and it spins. I have been doing this for three years for both the dirty water rinse and final rinse. I'm actually waiting for my dryer to die so I can get a new set but it won't so I want to maybe fix it if I can.

I have changed the timer, lid switch and had a new coupling but when I went to change it the one on there looked mint so I left it in there so I know it wasn't that part that was causing the problem.

Another thing:
Once in a while, when I do a small load (like sheets) it will spin without me lifting up the screwdriver to reset it (lid switch) but this only happens with a very light load and will go through the whole cycle no problem but very rarely.

I would do a clutch but not a transmission because of $$$$$$

Thanks in advance. Money is tight right now

Have you tried to exchange the timer under the parts warranty as we spoke back in 2008 about this issue?

No I didn't. It didn't make sense why a set of sheets (light load) would have a good chance of running through the cycle with no problems but with a normal load I always have problems. (and I'm careful not to overload it) It seems to me it's not catching. When it doesn't spin, it has a slight grinding/rubbing sound coming from underneath. Not too bad like I should be worried or anything but not something electrical.

Also, when my mom came to visit she put it on a different cycle then I do and I heard all kinds of screwed up noises from it. I thought she killed it. I only use the normal cycle and i think she used delicates possibly. This was last year. This is another reason I think it's mechanical.

Well. You may want to check the drive block and the clutch. You can find the instructions in one of our previous threads: http://forum.appliancepartspros...ir/373-not-spinning.html

I pulled it all apart. Changed the drive block (which looked corroded), checked the clutch, brakes, changed coupling for the heck of it and the agitator dogs for shits and giggles and still have the same problem. I am wondering if there is something inside the transmission that could be wrong like a worn gear? The drive block was really corroded but everything else was really good. I even changed the center post seal. I thought that would do it but it didn't.
