The "extra Low" Right Front Burner On The Cooktop Just Stopped Working. The Igniters Will Spark But I Get No Gas Flow From The Burner. Could It Be The Solenoid For That Burner? How Do I Get To It? Do You Have To Remove The Cooktop From The Counter?

Those potentiometers just love to go bad on the Thermadors. I just got bit on that recently and learned a few things on them. The replacements are better amd come as a kit that includes a new simmer controller. The selonoids while not trouble free are pretty reliable from what I hear.

The potentiometers that are being sent out with this kit are a little different than the old ones. The MFG. won't admit it, but the old ones are crap.

gearhead1218, thanks for your response.
Is that kit part # AP3572616 ?
It seems as if that kit is recommended for several different Thermador cooktops. Is it a "one size fits all" situtation?

Thermador cooktop SGCS365RW, Serial # 98090557M
Front xlo burner not lighting.
I ordered AP's AP3872616 (Bosch part No, 497235) potentiometer kit yestereday, received it today.
I installed the new simmer controller and the new potentiometers. The only thing that happened when I tried it was that gas came out of the back right burner, but there was no ignition at any burner.
I replaced the original parts, reversing the two original potentiometers. Then four of the five burners worked again, but not the rear center (xlo). Now the front xlo lites fine.
I called Thermador customer service. Only an authorized repair person can get information from their technicians.
Does the new kit require something other than a simple swap? Could the simmer controller be defective?

DOes anyone know if this replacement kit will work on the Thermador SGSCV36G? I have the same problem with my left front extra low burner and every site says no part available.
Thanks

redwood42,
I would recommend to call the customer service (877-477-7278) and ask for Adam. He'll help you.
