Dryer runs perferctly but never shuts off....turn dial to a setting, push start button and no problem, dryer starts except the dial will never move through a cycle. Ordered new timer assembly and installed, no change....dial still doesn't rotate on it's own through a cycle. Dryer heats and works ok just won't shut off unless you manually move the dial or open the door.

Gene,
I have now replaced the control board and the timer assembly and the dryer still runs but the timer dial stays stationary....what next??

How long time take to dry an average load on timed dry?

Normal drying time, however, without the timer moving it's hard to say if it's taking longer to dry, doesn't seem to....when you open the door it's plenty warm inside....
Your thoughts?

Hi Rick
I think all of us would have thought that replacing the timer and the board would have fixed things. Let's do this.
1. Check to see if the timer does not advance in all cycles, both automatic and timed.
2. Check to see if the timer will advance in timed no-heat or fluff cycle.
3. Check continuity of the wires between the board and the timer.
4. Set it on timed drying and see if you have 120v going to the timer motor.
Post the results and if I cannot shed any light on the problem this may help someone who is smarter than I am (of which there are many who reply on this Forum) make a suggestion.

I am assuming that this unit used to work OK.
Sometimes people buy a used unit and someone has messed up the wiring.
As sindfink43 said put the unit into timed dry mode as this eliminates the board as a possible cause.
Does sound like a broken wire or a defective replacement timer.
Timer motor circuit path is: NEUTRAL , DOOR SWITCH , TIMER SWITCH 3 , TIMER MOTOR , timer contacts BU/BK , L1 |
