My freezer is not getting cold enough. I bought it used and replaced the defrost timer and the defrost heat kit(the thing that glows green.) Everything was hunky dory, except my ice cream isn't as firm as I'd like it. The compressor and fan are working because I can feel cold air blowing. Right now it's set to the lowest setting for freezer, is there a way I can get it to go colder? Can I get it keep the compressor on for longer or something? Note, everything else in there is keeping frozen, I guess ice cream just needs to be a little colder to be firm. Thanks for a the help.

Remove the kick plate and the rear cover and clean the condenser coil (#730 on the diagram). Gene.

Thanks Gene. I will give that a try. I was wondering in the app list of parts it showed a defrost assembly kit with two heating elements. Is that something I need? Perhaps is there too much ice build up? I mean I know that single element one is working but if you think this could also be a factor let me know. Thanks.

Lets do one thing at a time. If the condenser was blocked, wait about 24 hours after cleaning to see what's going on.
Gene.

Sorry to say now after you bought it. A good test for a refrigerator is the freezer temperature, should be below zero with the cold control turned up.

Thanks for the consolation richappy, fortunately because it was broken he sold it to me for 25 bucks. So i'm not out a ton, and the experience in repairing it was well worth it. :)
Gene, unfortunately it seems that the ice cream is still not getting hard. Any other suggestions? To me it seems like the compressor does not turn on often enough. I have two refrigerators and the one seems to turn on all the time, this one does not. Does that help any?

Your compressor will shut down on it's thermal overload if the refrigerant level is low.

Post the results. Gene.
